So, a fortnight or so ago Ash Finney (our resident Power Tool expert) completed the Bolton Ironman, raising almost £500 for the chairty “Cots for Tots”.

Needless to say, we’re incredibly proud of his fundraising efforts!  Not many people can do a 2.4 mile swim, 112 miles on a bike and a marathon… all on the same day… all without stopping!

Why is Ash fundraising?
My friend’s wife Hannah was pregnant with identical twin girls and during Christmas 2014 they developed a rare condition call Twin to Twin Transfer Syndrome (TTTS).

Following unsuccessful treatment they encountered problems and they were delivered by emergency caesarean at 24 weeks, unfortunately one of the girls died at birth. Their surviving girl Bettie was taken to the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St. Michaels Hospital, Bristol, where The Tots for Cots Appeal raises money for both the unit and the 12 bedroom house located directly opposite the hospital, which allows families to stay close to their baby whilst they are in the NICU.

Although sadly Bettie only survived for 12 days Tim and Hannah were treated with compassion and professionalism by both the nurses and staff at the house, and would like to raise money for this charity to help support all the other unfortunate families who have to go through what they experienced.

Cots for Tots supports the incredibly important work of the Special Care Baby Unit at St Michael’s Hospital, Bristol. They fundraise via justgiving and other means to provide crucial life saving medical equipment and their Cots for Tots House, which is a home from home for families of babies staying on the Unit.
