Mould growth? Random damp patches? In recent years the most common form of unwanted dampness in buildings is water from the air that forms as condensation. It is now becoming a major domestic problem. At PAM Ties Limited we can help you solve these problems, quickly, cheaply and efficiently.
Running water on windows and walls is perhaps the most immediate indication of a condensation problem. If ignored, this can lead to a deterioration in the decorative condition of the property, stained curtains, decay in window frames and the appearance of moulds on the surface of wallpapers and paints in poorly ventilated areas, particularly but not wholly black spot moulds, which are unsightly and spoil decoration. A much less common form of condensation occurs when the dew point is reached, not on the surface of a wall but within the structure of the building itself. This is known as interstitial condensation and can easily be mistaken for rising or penetrating damp.
PAM TIES HAVE THE SOLUTIONS
Simply heating the air is unlikely to be a satisfactory solution, not only on grounds of cost, but also of practicality. By far the most effective way to cure your mould/condensation problem is to simply lower the humidity.
This can be done in a variety of ways : -
Homedry passive vents allow moisture to exit the property, and can be effective when installed in the right place. Homedry Passive Vents incorporate a built in central core which stops annoying draughts but still allow damp humid air to pass out of the building.
The installation of a small extractor fan in both kitchens and bathrooms (wet areas) will carry away moisture-laden air from the two areas most responsible for creating condensation, with minimal running costs. This is now required by the Building Regulations in new constructions. We at Pam ties would only recommend extractor fans which are constant running (don’t panic they cost less than £1-00/year to run) and are completely silent in operation.
Fans don’t get much better than our new Pam HR alternate flow fan. The newest addition to our condensation range with groundbreaking heat retention technology.
Currently our most popular and effective method of dealing with condensation are our extensive range of whole house positive input units. These take dry air from roof spaces or lofts and mix them with air in the dwelling which has the effect of lowering total moisture content and removing moist air through natural leakage. Pam Ties stock four different PIV models so your sure to find the model perfect for your home. We have found this to be one of the most effective ways to control condensation and humidity issues in properties or dwellings which have a loft space, but don’t worry if you don’t, our PAM Flatmaster Unit uses the same technology but can be used in flats/basements or properties without a loft space.
